No. Our products are non-psychoactive. The cannabinoids CBD and CBG undergo a precision extraction method which allows the cannabinoids to deliver benefits such as antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity, without the euphoric effects of marijuana or the ingredient THC found in the plant.
We at BirchTree Hemp take our products seriously and because of that, we have sourced and only get our cannabinoids and natural ingredients from licensed, certified suppliers. Every batch of our rubs and toothpastes are sent to independent laboratories for vigorous testing to make sure that what we say is in the container is actually what our customers are receiving. Well, you won’t and here is why: The big commercial brands use SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) to give that big foaming effect when you brush. But the truth is, SLS is not great for your tissues. In fact, SLS has been known to cause skin irritation, dryness, eye irritation and more. The BirchTree brand toothpaste does not use SLS and allows the bristles of your toothbrush to contact your tooth surfaces, therefore, doing a better job at cleaning your teeth rather than just having the bristles “hydroplane” because there is too much foam.
There’s a reason for that. The big commercial brands put a lot, and we mean A LOT of alcohol in their formulas. That’s what causes that strong “tingle” or burning effect on your tissues. Although the alcohol is put in there as an antiseptic and solvent for flavoring, it can cause dry mouth (a dry mouth is more susceptible to bacteria and decay) and is not ideal for oral health as well as systemic health. The alcohol also destroys “good bacteria”. In addition, some studies have linked alcohol with an increased risk of oral cancer. In some cases, the alcohol content makes the tissues “slough” from the inside of cheeks and lips.
BirchTree toothpaste does not use alcohol for that “fresh feeling”. Our ingredients are all natural and the freshness that you feel is real. There is no concern about damaging your tissues when using our toothpaste. If you want that continued feeling of clean and refreshing, we recommend brushing more often and/or using an alcohol-free mouthrinse after brushing with BirchTree toothpaste. Yes. Although we don’t have hydrogen peroxide in our formula (which is another ingredient that is NOT good for your enamel), we do have hydroxyapatite in the formula, which is a natural whitening and tooth strengthening ingredient. Hydrogen Peroxide does whiten enamel, however, it also micro-etches the enamel making it more prone to staining. Overuse of hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide also weakens teeth.
Hydroxyapatite is a man-made version of the mineral that makes up 97% of tooth enamel. It is designed to strengthen and remineralize teeth. It is also used as a fluoride-free alternative. Hydroxyapatite can provide a protective shield on the tooth surface preventing acid erosion and sensitivity. In fact, it can also smooth the tooth surface and reduce staining.
