Toothpastes

I have been in the dental field for about 49 years and a practicing dental hygienist for 45 years.  A very common problem we see as dental professionals is dental caries or cavities. One area that I focused on when caring for my patients was preventing dental disease.  Not all products provide protection and there can be so many to choose from.  I was on  a quest to find a product that would work against streptococcus mutans- a  very common bacteria associated with tooth decay and causes the oral cavity to become more acidic. After some research I discoveredthe potential of cannabidiol (CBD) as an antimicrobial agent for strep mutans.  I happened to find BirchTree Hemp and was able to talk with a live person regarding questions I had.  What I found out is that this paste also includes xylitol and manuka honey  which are known antimicrobials. 

I received the toothpaste and myself and a family member have been using the product for about 3 weeks.  The paste has a great flavor and texture and the teeth feel very clean after use.  The most riveting experience has been a more alkaline pH of the saliva after using this toothpaste.  S. mutans and an acidic oral cavity have been a chronic problem for this family member. The next step after a few more months will be to conduct another saliva test to determine if the s. mutan levels have diminished.  I continue to be encouraged that there will be positive results.  I am grateful to have found this product.
